KATHRYN DRINKWATER lives in the sunny Hibiscus Coast situated on the East Coast of New Zealand, just north of Auckland. Her gift for writing was first identified by her Fourth Form (Year Ten) English teacher. She went on to complete a Comprehensive Writing Course with The Writing School, during which she had articles and a short story accepted for publication. Her next step was to write the children’s novel, Dog Tucker which was published by Scholastic New Zealand and Australia. Dog Tucker received a Storylines Notable Book Award in Junior Fiction. As foster-caregivers Kathryn and her husband, Phil are kept busy caring for children who need a safe, happy home. Kathryn also enjoys spending time with her horses and other farm animals. She believes the Bible is the best Book of all and says it needs to be read with enlightenment from the Best Writer of All, The Holy Spirit.

Dog Tucker

DOG TUCKER. Angry and defiant, thirteen-year-old Devlin believes he’s unwanted. He’s fed up with changing schools and foster homes, and decides to run away from his foster-uncle’s farm. But then he meets a horse about to become dog tucker and a deception unravels… This is a story about making choices, and of discovering how hope can lie in unlikely places. Dog Tucker is a children’s novel for ages ten to fourteen. It was published in 2009 by Scholastic NZ and is available for purchase through book stores in New Zealand and Australia.
